Who's got chops?

We are interviewing applicants for two positions tomorrow: English, Social Studies. Over the years I've seen those that interview well, but can't teach, and those that don't interview well, but can teach. We are trying something new tomorrow, we are having applicants introduce themselves using technology. That's it. No other specifications. So it could be a wide-open format. As an administrator...all I want to know is "when the crap hits the fan...and it will...can you stand and deliver?" How to get that sense in an interview is difficult. I think I might accidentally have the technology stop working half way through their presentation...then we'll know what kind of chops they've got.

If you are a parent, educator, patron, taxpayer, politician, student, or otherwise concerned about our public education system you must read Seth Godin's work entitled "Stop Stealing Dreams." http://www.squidoo.com/stop-stealing-dreams
Crush the Box is an educational leadership blog (with occasional rants about politics and sports).
